Physical Therapy Assistant

  • Description:

    POSITION:    Physical Therapist Assistant – Leonard Kirtz School


    DUTIES (include but not limited to the following):

    • Assess levels and needs of students and review evaluative data, implement physical therapy treatment plans to meet IEP goals and programs on basis of evaluation and assessment.
    • Provide physical therapy services to students with developmental disabilities.  Implement approved behavioral plans.
    • Provide in-service, demonstrations and consultation to instructors, assistants, aides and families.
    • Operate and apply skills of physical therapy equipment and use of aids and modalities.
    • Work under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist.


    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS (include but not limited to the following):

    • Hold a Physical Therapist Assistant certificate/license.
    • Sound basic knowledge of physical therapy theory, treatment, and evaluations.
    • Knowledge of physical therapy equipment and positioning.
    • Maintain valid Driver’s License in state of residence.
    • Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and abuser registry clearances. 
    • Any other training as required by the Ohio DODD or county board policy.



    HOURS:   35 hour week, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, M-F (during school year)


    This position involves working with children and/or young adults who have developmental disabilities.


    In addition to the requirements listed above, the following qualifications shall be considered in evaluating an applicant for possible employment for this position: an applicant’s varied work-experience; one’s training and/or education; and, one’s adaptability to work with children and/or adults with developmental disabilities.
